Within a covalent bond some ionic characteristic may exist. This property is dependent on the electronegativity . Due to differrence of electronegativity compound shows polarity. Dipole is formed. In a periodic table, left to right in a period electronegativity increases. Electronegativity is dependent on atomic size.
